HORIZON 2020: Smart Cities & Communities. Info Day and networking event
“SYNERGASIA Ltd” participated in the event entitled “Smart Cities & Communities. Info Day and networking event” which took place on November 6th, 2015, in Brussels.
The purpose of the event was to inform potential applicants to the Smart Cities & Communities topic of the 2016-2017 Horizon 2020 Work programme ‘Cross-cutting activities’, Smart and Sustainable Cities Call.
More specifically, the proposal targeted the creation of lighthouse & follower cities, with “Smart buildings”, “Smart Networking” of electricity, heating, telecommunications, water, etc., “Smart” Energy Storage, electric vehicles and “smart” charging infrastructure of them, using the most advanced platforms and ICT infrastructure.
Within the Conference it was clear that there is a need of better coordination of EU policy on urban areas, as well as a need of efficient use of funding tools for these activities.
Moreover, it was presented how the proposals of 2015 have been evaluated. Specifically, 96 lighthouse and 113 follower cities have been evaluated, which requested a total budget of EUR 844.20 million euros. Overall, 9 proposals had the score required and four of them will be eventually funded.
After the presentations, which are available online (see. Https://ec.europa.eu/inea/en/horizon-2020-smart-cities-communities-info-day), took place a workshop with interested subjects, on energy sections, transport, information technologies and "smart cities".
